I just bought ummagumma today. The music is different, but in the studio cd each member was just told go and experiment with his stuff--so, that's what you get from that. Which is a good thing. They were still kinda struggling then and it helped develop a sense of what was to come. In the live half, they have some some better sounding things like Astronomy Domine and Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun. Saucerful is strange like the others though.

I don't know about BEST songs..thats difficult. I [glow=white,2,300]<2[/glow] pink floyd. primarily for their excellent use of synth. (thanks to the Who for that)

p.s. dont argue with me about pink floyd songs considering i have every album i respect your love for pink floyd and i hate to argue..considering you just advised us not to (<2) but..to have every album is nearly impossible...with all their rare live albums and singles and bootlegs... but i understand what you mean. sorry for being so literal. ahaha

I think the post-Waters music is worth listening to, just as the post-Barrett music is worth listening to. sure they lost a major assett when each member left but the the music is still good--a little drop in the lyric rating, but nonetheless top quality stuff.
